About Macatawa

The United States Pony Clubs, Inc., develops character, leadership, confidence and a sense of community in youth through a program that teaches the care of horses and ponies, riding and mounted sports.

Macatawa Pony Club (MPC) was founded in 2002 and serves the Holland, Zeeland, and Hamilton areas. The Club provides an unmounted and mounted instruction program for youth and adult members who embrace the requirements of the US Pony Club Standards of Proficiency. The Club also provides opportunities for members to demonstrate the skills and knowledge they have acquired through certifications and rallies. Over the years, Macatawa has competed successfully in regional events such as Quiz, Show Jumping, and Dressage, and has had consistent participation at Regional Camp and Tetrathlon.

Macatawa is partnering with Erika Tries-Peterson at Great Lakes Equestrian Center to provide the riding instruction for our members. Erika's program includes dressage, show jumping, and eventing making it a perfect fit for Pony Club.

We are an all-volunteer run Club, so we ask that all Seniors (i.e. adult members) and the families of our youth members contribute some hours towards the Club over the course of the year. There are many opportunities, ranging from Club Officer, to one-off chaperoning, to supplying snacks, so please be ready to join in!

USPC Pony Clubs and Riding Centers are assigned to one of 41 geographical regions, which are administered by a volunteer Regional Supervisor (RS) and other appointed and elected officers. Regions offer additional activities and opportunities for members and support for the club and center leaders under their administration. Macatawa Pony Club is part of the Great Lakes Region. Visit the region's website for the contact information for the Regional Officers.
